Baltej obtained her degree in law from the University of London in 1994. She was then called to the bar of England and Wales and is a barrister of the Middle Temple.

Baltej was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in July 1996.

Her practice is in civil and commercial litigation. She also handles family and Shariah law matters.

In the non-contentious area, she practices in the field of probate and administration of estates, property transactions including landlord and tenant.   She also provides legal support for broad range commercial transactions.
